Safer Skin
Most skin cancers are preventable, but they can be deadly. So, what are we going to do to ensure that they are prevented effectively?
Exposure to UV from the sun is the primary cause of skin cancer, and in Wales, skin cancers account for almost half of all cancers. Wales also has the dubious honour of having the highest rates of skin cancer out of the four UK nations. By implementing sound public health policies now such as making sunscreen available in dispensers in public sector workplaces, schools and hospitals and ensuring all children in school learn about how to protect themselves from UV rays, we can make an impact on this growing health crisis.
We must see this through the lens of the well-being of future generations, and we must give this issue the serious attention it deserves.
